In 2016 I came up with a name for the fynbos and fantasy themed art that I have been making for years. My goal was to create a brand that would make my work more recognisable and marketable and encourage me to settle on a distinctive theme that can run as a common thread through my different creative projects. The name, 'Fyntacie' references both fynbos and fantasy. 'Fynbos' is an Afrikaans name, meaning 'fine bush' which describes the appearance of these delicate yet hardy plants. They make up an entire biome because of the incredible biodiversity that exists within a relatively small space at the tip of Africa.
Not everything I make includes fynbos but my appreciation of it spills over into my fantasy art. Large skies and vivid colours are among the things that make me feel at home and they are essentially African. My craft items are mostly polymer clay and I have recently taken to doing commissions for Wedding cake toppers and gifts. If you are interested in buying anything I have made, whether it is a digital download or a craft item, I really appreciate that. International customers may want to purchase my art as a print from my Redbubble page. If you are in South Africa, I can send you my banking details upon request.
